egt intermittent

On my 1959 175 i have a dual egt/cht guage.I can't see a name on it, but it
looks like a Westach..........
What kind of connection is used for the senders.It has a clamp on the exhaust and i have not seen the cht end yet..

It works ok on the cht, but the egt will drop off to zero from 1350.When it functions correctly i can lean and see the change in the egt.
I'm suspecting a bad connection on the instrument.
Any ideas?

Sounds like the probe might be dying. Usually they just quit.

Westech is a good brand, I would just replace it .

how is it connected to the instrument?
just pulls out?

Find the instrument on your exhaust and follow the connections. Check each on the make sure they are secure and not corroded. That's a good place to start. IF you don't find anything that fixes it then you will most likely need to replace the probe.

"probe should be 2.5 ohms, if greater replace probe."
