Cowboy - yeehah!
I've been a western skier all my life, never skied east of the Rockies. Watching the US Champ right now and they are saying conditions this year are the best of the century.

I have some time off coming up, would like to go try my chops back east. I'm a high speed, groomer, on-piste skier. Too old for the bumps but don't mind a little ice.

C'mon eastern skiers, gimme some advice here. I'm droolin' on Sugarloaf from what I can see, wonder when they close?

Ha. I largely grew up skiing in the east (NY and northern VT). Then moved west 15 years ago and have no real desire to go back to 25 minute lift lines in 20 degree below temps for a run that lasts 30 seconds, while paying the same ticket price as say JH or Snowbird.

Looks like they should be open until mid-April. Give the resort a call and they might have a better answer.

Come on down! We got great skiing! :D

In spite of the recent, nationally-known accident at Sugarloaf, that alone wouldn't keep me from skiing the area the day they reopen the lift, though I wouldn't be skiing that particular trail. In Maine there are Sugarloaf, Sunday River, and Saddleback. My preference is Saddleback, in Rangeley. I was just there on Wednesday; but it was their last midweek schedule. Now it's only Saturday and Sunday, and if attendance isn't sufficient they'll close it down.

Go ahead; shoot me, they are big files. They're part of a shoot I did for the management. Best to right-click and open in new window.

OK, I'm going up to close down Keystone next month, and I have an annual pass for those areas. I guess there's no real reason to go east when I have the best of the best out west. It was an idea.
