Obviously two Tri-motors, 2 minutes with Google would have cleared that up.

EAA is using two Tri motors on tour this season. Had a ride in Sarasota this year. Great time.

I only knew they had one.....

They must have either bought another one,,,,, maybe the Ron Pratt one that sold at Barrett Jackson Auto auction or rented one from someone like Yellowstone Aviation / Greg Herrick...:dunno:

Technically the EAA has one Tri-Motor and the second is on contract from the Liberty Aviation Museum. I'll have the Liberty Tri-Motor at KLZU May 7th - 10th.

Did they contact you about the sponsorship? I got it approved. :D

The smaller of the two run (and rebuilt) by the EAA itself can be run with one pilot, so you can "buy" the right seat and might even get a few second stick time. I flew that sucker back from Muncie. What a handful!

The other takes two pilots, so all you can do is ride.

I'm not sure that is true. Where do you find that information? All of the EAA info on sponsorship packages talks about the co-pilot seat and does not differentiate between the two aircraft.

When did Ron Pratte get into expensive cars and airplanes?

He used to live in my neighborhood back when I was in high school in the 80s. Big house/large property, but I never saw any unique cars and no idea he was into aviation.

Ran visits by both to my little one-horse town. They're different models, though I could't give you the details anymore. Anyhow, the one EAA owns outright is certified for one pilot, the one they borrow for two.

Have been on both the Eaa Tri motors, neither requires aa co pilot. That seat sells for an extra $25.

Kidding about living near him or kidding about not paying attention to his dealings since I left for college 25 years ago?

Sorry for the terse comment....:redface::redface::redface:..

My point was that Ron had one of the largest collections of cars/trucks and a few really kool planes... he lives on an airpark in the phoenix area....

Google Ron and Barrett Jackson.... He just sold over 40 MILLION dollars worth of collector vehicles about 40 days ago...

I did....I was just surprised that it was the same guy I lived literally down the street from and had no idea he was interested in aviation.

I don't know what he did for a living,, But,,, Supposably he is worth around 1 billion dollars......

Smart guy for sure...

Or lucky he had a nice trust fund..:dunno:

The Tri Motor has been in Camarillo since early in the week. They had it in a hangar on the west end, finally had it flying yesterday.
