I've been watching the helo and forrestry service planes flying over the wildfires here and I noticed an E6 from Centcom flying nearby. Been here for a few hours.

Sure hope it's just a routine training flight.

An E-6 next door to Eglin AFB (KVPS)? Nothing strange there. The USAF Armament Test Center at VPS at times does weird stuff and doesn't put it in the paper.

E-6's are Navy, and the bureau number as the reg is a giveaway even if the callsign is not

E-6s are Navy, but some are based at AF bases for some reason. Travis AFB has a few. One was doing t&g at SJC a few nights ago for some reason.

Technically, they are all based at Tinker AFB, I imagine due to proximity to Offutt. They are part of USSTRATCOM, formerly SAC, though fall under USN administrative control/are flown/maintained by USN personnel. It is a somewhat unique arrangement for a USN aircraft.
