Drones and COA (Certificate of Authorization)

So I just learned of a COA being proposed for my area and had to look them up. Basically, its authorization for a company or gov't entity to fly drones legally. But... Its not marked on a chart anywhere.

Found this link where you can download all of the ones that have been approved and search threw them yourself,

and this link, these guys sued the FAA after they failed to comply with FOIA requests. It overlays google maps to show where some are, no idea how current it is, but i found it interesting.

Why the hell do they need to fly those damn things here? We're no where near the border, and nobody's shooting at the cops with anything higher powered than a laser pointer.

The ones listed are manily colleges, a college here in Dayton got clearance recently. That is what made me look a little deeper

They need a UAV for Wright State? To do what, spy on the co-eds?
