I am sharing this from Coast Guard Aviation Association:
The ATC Mobile's Chiefs Mess outdid themselves transforming HU -16 E CGNR-2129 into the Queen of the Fleet. She is definitely the BEST LOOKING AIRCRAFT at Battle Ship Alabama Park.
The Chiefs spent over 200 man hours cleaning,striping and painting the old goat and had a ball doing it.
The timing couldn't be better. On Saturday 5/17/2014 several thousand people are expected to attend the Fallen Heroes ceremonies at the Park, including the Alabama Governor, and I bet they all say WOW. Later the battle ship commission anticipates that over 300,000 people per year will get to say WOW.
CGNR 2129 is the FIRST aircraft visitors see upon entering Battle Ship Park.
