I received an invoice (sort of) from Jeppesen today. It is probably legitimate, but it different than all my past ones and it just sounds "spammy".

Thank you for your continued trust and partnership with Jeppesen ForeFlight!

They said "Dear Customer" instead of using my name.
Phrases like "we kindly ask . . ." sounds spammy, as does "thank you for your continued trust".
And am I supposed to send my ach number over email? They used to provide a secure link.
But the timing is right and all the details look right. But the message just looks weird to me.

Why are the actual URLs going to a Boeing address?

No way in hell I'd be sending my information like that over email.
Go to the Jeppesen official website, get their customer service #, call it and resolve that way.

Also I wouldn't download/open the invoice/pdf they sent.

Sure looks suspicious to me. Weird phasing, incorrect links.

Don't EVER open an unexpected pdf file.

Scammers must be busy. This morning I received an email from an account saying they had an unauthorized sign in. Then they instructed me to not reply to the email but conveniently provided a handy link to use. So, suspecting this was someone with too much time and little brains, I logged into my account with a different machine to confirm ... it just ain't so. :fingerwag:

If you're sending your ACH info in an email like that, you kinda deserve what is likely to happen.

WTF is "remittance advice"? Broken English, asking you to send account numbers by email, and email links that don't match the label. Scam 110%.

I guess if I did that I would deserve that. But I posted it here instead, partly to alert others that this could happen to them. Apparently, someone knows that my Jeppesen payment is due. I received a legitimate invoice exactly one year ago. Coincidence?

Or did the new VC owners outsource accounts payable to an AI on the other side of the world?

Even if they did, I'd let my subscription lapse before I open an un-named and unexpected PDF and put my ACH information into an email.

I agree, call and speak to someone that speaks Engrish.
I got on their web site and used chat. That was useless. They finally gave me a number to call that put me into automated phone attendant that had none of the right menu items and when I figured out how to speak to an agent, I wound up on terminal hold. But on the web site there was an option to pay my legitimate invoice amount online. But it's not due for 59 days so I'm gonna wait about 58 days.

A "remittance advice" is like a check stub that shows when and how a payment is made. Useful with wire transfer payments to allow the vendor to connect a payment to a customer and invoice. Otherwise, they get a wire from "xyz holding company, inc." for some dollar amount and can't connect it to a customer name or a specific invoice. It's a perfectly normal thing in the business world.

I get random “Invoices” in my email all the time. If I can’t go to the app or the web account I have previously used to pay, and then verify the invoice, it’s a phishing attempt. I don’t click on any links inside emails unless I’m expecting that link ( which is usually something I emailed myself).

It could be that someone got into your email (or Jepps) and knew that you were expecting an invoice. Or it could be that they sent these to a lot of people and you just (almost) fell for it because you happened to be expecting an invoice. The phishing emails from "Wells Fargo" are blatantly obvious to those with no Wells Fargo account. But people who bank there might have to look twice.

If this number doesn't work
(303) 799-9090

let me know. I still have friends who work there. At least for the time being.

Jeppesen. Not Foreflight.

Thanks, but I've spent enough time on this. I'm just going to wait until the invoice due date is closer and pay it directly on their web site.
