do you think this stuff with work on the leading edges or the belly of the plane?

That's pretty exciting to see.

If it kept water off your plane you wouldn't ever need de-ice equipment for known ice right? I guess you'd need to do tests to see how much would wear off due to the friction of flight?

Products like these have made their way around the aviation forums for probably five years or so. I know of no one who has applied to their aircraft (certified or home built) or tested it in flight.

Certainly durability is an issue, particularly holding up to uv light.

Has anyone seen products like this at their local Home Depot?

Yes, I have seen it.

Yes, I have bought it.

Yes, it works for repelling water.

No, I did not put it on my airplane

If you wouldn't fly with frost on the wings, you wouldn't want to fly with this stuff on the wings. It's about like 220 sandpaper when applied to a hard surface.

It comes off in the laundry.

The stuff I sprayed on my trash can as a test last summer has worn off.

I'm pretty sure that a T-Shirt that mustard won't stick to is not gonna be very comfortable at the picnic.
