Diana - You OK?

You know Diana, you guys REALLY need a storm shelter. I'm sure those prefab concrete tanks you bury are pricey but you could easily make a shelter with some RR ties and an end loader. Yea, it would be a project but we'd ALL sleep better knowing you were resting comfortably in a bunker instead of cowering in a closet.

And if you get one, we can all come over and help you bury it!

:D Well, I WAS on my iPhone checking the radar and texting from the closet. Tom was in the furnace room closet across the hall on his iPhone.

So now you and Tom have separate closets?

And thank goodness, they're both out of the closet :D

Diana, you see a cloud formation/sky like the one we saw when I was down on your farm? I was surprised to not be under tornado warning that day.

What a nice thing to say, Matt. :) I'm all for getting something like that, but my better half isn't interested. It's all I can do to get him in the closet.

How sweet! Maybe I'll try that approach with Tom.

:D Well, they are very small. Although, Joe and Viveca Areeda fit in one of them last year. I have a picture of it, too, but I won't post it.

Those were beautiful clouds that day, and rather impressive and eerie. We haven't had any like that in a long time. Do you get those back east?

And I went flying....

I don't recall seeing anything that impressive back east. Some mammus, but nothing quite like that. I've seen some pretty impressive formations when I lived in Texas and Cincy, but both of those are (also) part of the Tornado Belt.

I hope you don't mind if I post a few of your photos that you took here. Here are a few scaled down versions. The sky was very busy that day.

Diana,

any issues with the 2nd round that went through last night?

How wet is the runway?

I was out mowing until the severe storms got close. The tornado warnings were about 15 miles north of us and one popped up headed for Barb's farm about 15 miles east of us.

We got about 1/4" of rain with those storms. The runways are OK right now, but the taxiway and tie down areas have mole runs which are turning to mud in spots. A taildragger might be OK, but not sure about a nosedragger at this point. Lamar is only 5 miles from here, so we can run pick people up if they land there, or Pittsburg is not a far drive for us either. Marijke landed at PTS the other night and we drove to get her and flew over to get her airplane the next morning.

I'll be out mowing again when it dries up here and I'll have a better idea of the ground condition here. If you need to stop here d/t weather, text me and I'll keep a watch out for you. We also monitor Lamar's frequency (and our's), 122.9.

Glad you posted them. I don't have 'em with me....
