I wanted to come down and party with all the "good guys" in the DFW area but after trying to simply get an appointment with the "Cessna Rigging Guru" down there for over two months and not even being able to get a date (or even a return phone call) I've gone to plan B.

Paul New with Tennessee Aircraft Services at Jackson (MKL) is just as reputable, just as involved with CPA and the same price so I'll likely be there within the next month or so.

Anyone here in the Jackson area?

Also, it'll be two or three nights' stay so I may sneak into Germantown to one of my favorite restaurants (Owen Brennan's) or a little farther towards downtown MEM to Folk's Folly. Any Memphians here?

You DFW folks can breathe a sigh of relief. You've been issued a reprieve!

Try "Interstate Barbeque" just south of Memphis on 3rd st. Owned by the Neelys.

I quit going to Owen Brennan's when they discontinued the unlimited mimosas for Sunday brunch. :D

Go to Gus' Fried Chicken.

I escaped...wait, this is Memphis we're talking about...I ex-caped a couple years ago to Nashville after having lived there for 5-6 years.

Anyway, I second Gus's, or if you want authentic Mexican try Las Delicias at Park & Getwell. Freshly homemade salsa, chips, and margaritas. There's also a location on Quince in a slightly better area.

Brennan's is good but way overpriced, and I prefer Rendezvous downtown for barbeque.

Being a former FedEx employee, I'm pretty familiar with the culinary options in Memphis. That wasn't the point of the thread. The point was to see if anyone lived in the area and wanted to grab a beer or something to eat while I'm there.

But...since we're sidetracked...

You couldn't pay me to step foot in the Rendezvous. Interstate is pretty good. Gus's okay.

I try to stay out of Memphis proper after dark. A truly dangerous town (spoken by a St. Louis boy). Folk's Folly is about as close as I'll get.
