Density Altitude and human performance

That is know as density altitude, and affects horses, cattle, humans, planes, cars, dogs, and more.
You're missing the distinction. Inside your lungs, it's always 98 degrees F, and 100% humidity. So your lung performance is not affected by *density* altitude. But you definitely are affected by *pressure* altitude! :)
 
Go jogging at -40 and feel the burn of that ALWAYS 98F air in your lungs.
Do you find yourself jogging much while PIC in a -40 cockpit?
If so, you need to make better life choices. And yes, where the gas exchange takes place, in the alveoli, it’s always 98… that’s your trachea that are burning, not the alveoli…
