Del., Md. and Va. residents watch for NASA and DOD rocket launches

Now, Wallops Island's built on a swamp, and there's no place big enough to stomp- and if you do, you'll sink up to your neck - John Huff, Clam Chowder

I don't know if this launch was, but some of the rocket motors they're using at Wallop's Island are former ICBM engines.

Swords into plowshares. Let's just make sure we still have a few swords at the end of it all...

I've been out to Wallops Island as a visitor. There is an old lifesaving station out there (37.876503,-75.444172). It's a very busy place and quite secure. I also find Wallops Flight Facility an interesting place. Joint facility with numerous services, NASA, and NOAA represented there. The antennae farm you can see from the NASA visitors center is quite impressive.
