Deer Valley - Mooney lands short

Runaway prop governor? Seems like the prop would hit the high or low pitch stops.
A mechanical failure could possibly cause overspeed in some propellor models. Underspeed is less of an issue, of course. However, there's still working throttle and mixture controls, one might assume, and it takes precious little power to 'stretch' a glide that would otherwise come up short (unless one has them down and dirty, which would be an error until making the runway is guaranteed.)

That'll do it. Gotta pull back the power to keep the prop from overspeeding. Don't have enough power to stay airborne. You either keep the gear up to make it to the airport or drop it and land out. No big surprise everyone is OK, Mooneys are stout.
