One who misses Daytona!
So the Ms's and I find ourselves alone (yippee) for Christmas this year. she says to her favorite pilot, where could we fly for the weekend? So he says, how far do you want to go.
She says maybe Arkansas, just someplace north of Houston.

So my fine aviator family,

Any suggestions for places to go 3-4 hour flying (182) from Houston.

Destin Florida if you want very nice beaches. If you play golf stay at residence Inn Sandestin at Grand Boulevard. You can walk to the golf course.
 
But since you want North of Houston... I'm fresh out of ideas... as those are the fly over states :)
 
New Orleans is a fun town.
 
Easy... Port A and Amelia's Landing...

She can go do the shopping thing while you and Jay go poke holes the skies in his airplane.

I also had considered Memphis. We are sorting through it.

Graceland is pretty in Memphis with the Christmas lights. But so is Branson, Mo. Or, go to Gaston's, stay in one of their cottages and do a little trout fishing. Fishing is usually pretty good that time of year and it isn't crowded. For me, White River and Gaston's would do it, but I like quiet and nature. There is a pair of bald eagles that you can usually find. Pretty neat to watch them dive and scoop up a fish out of the river if you like that kind of thing.
