Death wish

Big no no in Texas but I lane split every day. That was definitely a time lapse video. Played at real speed I suspect it would be a yawn.

If you want to see some real crazy stuff, in real time, look up Ghostrider's videos. They are on Youtube. He makes that rider look like an amateur, even if you accepted it at face value.

When I lived in San Diego I split all the time, it's a big time saver and actually safer than being in line with the cars.

I wouldn't try it here, Bubba in his jacked up pickup would punt me off into the woods.

Yeah I agree. Certainly you can do it unsafely, but splitting by traffic 5-10 mph faster than they are going is a lot safer getting in the middle of an end to end car sandwich. I don't go any faster than I can react to a car merging over or pulling in front of me.

I split lanes on my Roadglide but only at stop lights and at a sails pace.. This video sounds and appears to be real time based on what I see as frontage road and opposing lane traffic.. At any rate I hope when he goes he doesn't take anyone with him :(

That looked and sounded 'real time' to me. Normally I keep my lane splitting around 10-15 above traffic speed.

Early on there was a big American flag flapping over to the right.

Did not look sped up to me.

Anyway, risking one's life depending on the "lane discipline" of every vehicle passed has got to be a bad bet in the long run.

And some have none.

This guy will kill himself sooner rather than later. I hope he doesn't take someone else with him.

Dan

Me too. I would also hope that he doesn't increase people's negative perceptions of sport bikes or boost insurance payments for those who ride them. I could hope to travel to the Moon and have better luck, though.

Yep, in Long Beach I would ride the white dots, back in the 70's! Yamaha 750, fastest production bike of its time.

I could only watch 40 seconds of it. I'm with Henning in that I think it sounded real time. It sounds about like my Connie does when I'm pulling 8k+ RPM....but I definitely don't do it splitting between cars like that. My bike is much too large, and even if it wasn't it stills looks crazy

People that ride Busas are in a league of their own.

There's a fella who rides with one of the clubs around here with a stretched and turboed Busa that likes to brag about how he can do Omaha to Lincoln in 15 minutes while running from the cops.

There's a video of him on YouTube getting followed by the cops and when the officer hit his cherries he literally disappears.

I used to ride like that. Feels comfortable, until a car moves funny, most of the time with the closure rate it is like riding through stationary objects.

I had a Hayabusa for years. I don't think I am in a league of my own. Some may be but many I have meet were not.
