Some family and I will be attending the Dayton Airshow for the first time this year (hopefully it won't be super hot) and I'm planning on flying in for the show Saturday (weather depending) and was wondering if anyone here had flown in before and would be willing to share their experiences. The fly-in page on the website (http://www.daytonairshow.com/2015/vdas-fly-in-program/) make it seem pretty straight forward and I'm planning on arriving in the morning before the performances start so hopefully it won't be too busy. Any insight on the fly-in or show in general is appreciated!

I'm going to be shuttled in with my brother-in-law (Co-owner of Spectra Jet) on Sunday. We have complimentary VIP tickets. Haven't been inside the airport for the show for a few years, usually watch front National Rd. (US 40) in Vandalia, my hometown.

I did it once and would do so again. Do listen to the ATIS and be prepared to write, its kinda long. Also, buy your tickets beforehand. There is a gate right next to the FBO, if you already have your tickets you can walk right in. Also, you and your female guests will be entitled to use the FBO loos, which those of the double X persuasion will appreciate mightily. Oh, and while you watch the never-ending conga line of cars leaving you get to taxi right out the runway and take off. Enjoy the show, its a really good one.

Had a great time at the show today! Flight in was simple and the controllers did a nice job handling the airliners and us little guys on the same runway at a busy time in the morning. Parking was simple and we got a golf cart over to the show gates. Return was simple and efficient too and yes flying over the huge traffic jam on the way out was nice. Here are some pics..

Sean D Tucker, the FA18 and the F22 were the highlights of the show! If anyone is thinking about going out tomorrow I highly recommend it!

I work there almost every year as a volunteer in one of the air conditioned Chalets. Seldom come out except for warbirds and the Blues or Birds:). Sad about the loss on the Blue Pilot.

Always nice to see planes I worked on like F-22, F-35 and C-17.

Cheers

Looks almost like duplicates of the pictures I got today. Airshow was great, the Tora Tora Tora and F-18 shows were great but the F-22 was/is amazing. If you haven't seen it perform, you should, it is amazing. Weather was perfect, crowd was small today. The static displays were far fewer than in the past, maybe because no Blues or Tbirds? I actually won't be surprised if it's cancelled for next year.

Yes the F22 was amazing! Sean Tucker too WOW some of those stunts are unbelievable. When he "hovers" in place...crazy. I certainly hope it isn't canceled next year. The crowds seemed large to me even minus the Blue Angels. Would have liked to see the F35s fly as well.

if that's the Cessna you took then I watched you take off and flew over while I was sitting it traffic ha

Didn't even know it was this weekend. Probably a good thing too, since I would have planned to fly in and failed. Airplane failed a mag check and needs the help of the field mechanic.
