Cub Crafters makes it to 37,609 feet!

I have to stick up for Clip4.
Science has shown the grumpier you are the longer you live.
Clip is aiming for immortality.

;) Love ya, Clip!

In other words, he’s going for the record. :stirpot:

I'd be curious about what O2 redundancies his sponsors fetched him. Most hobbyists aren't well versed in the nuances of diluter-demand vs pressure-demand systems (the usaf uses a hybrid/selectable regulator to account for cabin decompression failures). I wonder what kind of emergency O2 for parachute deployment, or if his deployment ring was even baro-selectable for auto deployment (14K typical hot seat setups). Just a lot of aspects to loss of conciousness that need to be accounted for when it comes to unpressurized flight that high.

A fellow FCF mate of mine suffered a px failure recently, combined with a false positive connection at the hose which disconnected inadvertendly during the loss of pressure event. Quick onset of grey-out, was able to quickly reconnect, gangload, and restore saturation before potential blackout. Fun times. Grounded for the next 48 hours for observation of decompression sickness (luckily none was ultimately exhibited, due to how quick the letdown and reconnection of O2 was). The fact they don't pay us extra for this subset of the mission is for another day lol.

In fairness, unpressurized flight as done in this stunt is more benign, and doesn't run the risk of rapid decompression issues like we're susceptible to in pressurized flight. The problem with a kite like a cub is getting down if the O2 primary malfunctions. In our case in the ol' timey leaky rocket, he was parked at the hammerhead, engines shut down and breathing from the ARRF medical O2 kit a mere 8 minutes later...from FL400. You just can't teleport like that in a cub, unless you terminal-v it a la Trevor Jacob lol.

As to pressurizing induction and oil systems being some sort of state secret....lah-mao. Settle down Aldrin, they got the jump to the moon last century already. *womp womp*
