Hopefully, a higher tide when the new Navy ships weave their way down the Kennebec River to the ocean. I think I see Five Islands, Georgetown, in the distance. I live six miles down that road at the left; then it's another six miles to Five Islands village.

Great shot, love river towns that haven't had to buy themselves behind flood walls as a result of the Corps' river (mis)management like so many around here have had to do.

For those unfamiliar with my "Navy ships" reference, on the other side of the bridges is Bath Iron Works, Shipbuilder, known for its construction of US Navy vessels. The larger bridge, when completed 15+ years ago, was the world's longest bridge of its type - cantilevered. Huge sections were cast somewhat out of the bottom of my image, then transported by barge and lifted into place by massive cranes also on barges. The old (1927) bridge remains only for the railroad tracks which are still in use. The new bridge had to be tall enough to have clearance for a BIW ship if it might "get away," whereas the old structure is a draw-bridge.

We could take you to the image's aerial position, and down the river, when you come east to get the 1955 Buick. :o)

Working on that! Still haven't had a chance to make any calls. I've had a lot on my plate recently...but it's working towards the top!
