I thought I'd ask here first.
Anyone understand how crash pads are set up? I'm going to have a room available here in BOS for october, and thought it might be cool to have it available for pilots.
Things I need to understand are the lingo/terminology (hot beds?), how these are usually set up (many pilots sharing a room, or one guy having exclusive rights or what?), etc etc.
Any and all advice is welcome
thanks

Speed pretty much said it. I used to run a crashpad when I was commuting out of IAD. I was always looking for people to stay as long term as possible. We had a couple "person specific" rooms, and one "hot room." Hot room was about $100/month, while the specified rooms were 250/month. I always charged so that I took in more than the monthly cost...that helped me through when people left with short notice. It also helped when people decided they needed the air conditioning set at 70* when it was 100* outside. That price included everything except food. ...and speaking of food - make sure you have enough cabinet space so the pilot's can keep their ramen noodles separate from the other guys ramen noodles!!!

With about 10 guys living there, we had to shave the toilet about once a month...don't know what it is about shedding pilots :dunno:
