Just checking around for flying down to Port A sometime soon, and noticed this TFR coming up this weekend. Curious if anyone knows what's going on? Only looking at the shape and position of the TFR, looks like some ship is coming or going. Just curious-

Don't know what's going on but look at the altitudes, it's not for a ship. Maybe some flight training?

CBP UAV operations. They use the TFR to depart and arrive. Ops are conducted along the border in Class A airspace.

Yep, those are our Predator drones, keeping us safe from...whatever.

They fly out of Naval Air Station Corpus Christi.

It's been that way for over a year. Every month they just reissue the same TFR.

And, BTW, the TFR is a non-issue here. There is no logical reason to fly through that area unless you're coming up from Port Isabel or Mexico -- and Corpus Approach will let you fly through it if you *are* coming from thataway.
