Coolidge AZ flyin

It's not too bad. Listen in and plan a normal approach and keep an eye out for traffic. If you go earlier, there is less traffic and you can be first in line for the pancakes.

It's not TOO bad, but can be very busy. 4,5,6+ aircraft in the pattern and coming from all directions. Occasional dufus who'll cut you off or come out of nowhere. Communicate and work hard at determining who is #1, #2, #3 etc. Early is a good plan... but you won't be the only one thinking that.

Thanks TED. I just need to relax. I figure I will get on CTF early listen to the traffic. Then report 10 miles, 5 miles, entering the 45 the normal non towered airport procedures. Worse case if its to busy for my liking I just fly home.

Will they be suspending the parachutes or no? I am still a student but have been to Coolidge a few times, and jumper traffic can be a bit heavy, and can add to the stress level, at least it did a bit for me.

I don't know BG. I been to Coolidge once and I didn't hear any skydiving traffic.

BG what FBO are you training with? I see your Zip code is 85298. The same as mine.

Well tomorrow is the day. I'm also flying with a passenger for the first time in over 10 years. I haven't flown with anyone else but my CFI when I got current in July.

Well I survived the Fly in. It was a nice turn out. I thought I handled the busy air traffic just fine. Airplanes were all over the sky but most everyone followed the standard practice of entering a 45 degree downwind for runway 5. I followed a Starduster Yellow Biplane into the pattern about 1/2 mile in front of me. I made alot more radio calls then normal at a non towered airport. It was a terrific experience for me. I had a first time passenger first time flight in a small airplane. He loved it. This fly in is 1st saturday of the month but I most likely do every other month. We will see.

Good to hear David. It's not a bad fly-in at all. Then again I braved Casa Grande last year during Copperstate. And I instruct in that area. Glad to hear your passenger liked it, maybe you've got another pilot in our community starting? :)

It was nice to have a passenger with me helping spot airplanes. I think I will just drive to copperstate this year. Interesting group of people at coolidge fly in. All walks of life. It was a first time with passenger 10 years ago since getting current in July.
