So, what was your favorite? We were only there for 2 days, so I'm sure I missed a lot of cool new gadgets. My favorite:

FLIR EVSx - http://www.flir.com/cvs/americas/en/aviation/products/evsx/

If you have an experimental, you can now have "enhanced vision" for $3,500.

I was hoping my favorite would be the Dynon AP-76, but still no go. I also liked the Virtual HUD (www.virtualhud.com), but having a pusher makes it a no go for me.

So, what did I miss?

Thread bump. I'd like to know what cool toys you guys saw at OSH.

Two companies have Bluetooth adapters that plug in line on aviation headsets and interface a mobile phone. One has a display!

I was glad to hear that Garmin now has active traffic systems. That's something I'd like to have eventually (read: once I actually have an airplane), but since Avidyne bought Ryan - Well, I'm not a big fan of Avidyne to begin with and after hearing about Andrew's dissatisfaction with their customer service, I didn't want to use theirs.

The space ship landed right in front of me.

I don't understand... The closest I know of a spaceship at Airventure was the WhiteKnight carrier plane- the pictures didn't show it with the space ship attached.

Agreed. Garmin announced quite a few new things. Here's their blog entry describing their OSH '09 announcements:

Stumbled on this guy in the Exhibits. $15/yr subscription fee and they are trying to have the largest database of videos of arrivals to airports. I know you can find many on YouTube, but the idea is that you can see what the approach/airfield from a short video. Currently they have less than 100 fields cataloged, but are trying to get more.

Their idea is pretty good, but I can see tons of room for additional features (like pictures of the field from 5 miles out in each direction), but hey...for $1.25 per month...can't expect it all up front.

Maybe it's not the BEST idea, but I like the small, helpful ideas that aren't requiring a new mortgage to afford.

If I want to watch videos of airplanes landing, I can go to youtube for free.

hence my comment: "I know you can find many on YouTube..."

I just like the idea of having a good look at the area prior to going. I've used youtube and google maps extensively. If they can improve their offering, I'm all about it.
