but they'll soon be busy swapping wheels for floats. Twitchell's Sea Plane Base, Turner, Maine 3B5. 49° today at Wiscasset KIWI, but first 3 pictures are a summer or two old. Photo #4 will only look like that last year's image when a lot of current crusty snow melts, outside my hangar at Wiscasset.

Cool place. Did my SES there. I need to go fly floats again.

Been years since I've been there. I think, 1975? Have to check the logbook.

It's getting to be time for my plane's Annual. I'd better call Dale Twitchell and get it scheduled earlier or I'll be hearing, "Gee, Jerry; we'll be tied up for three weeks while getting the annual wheels-to-floats routine done for those who switch."

Reminds me of the time I was standing in the Sea Plane Base hangar(above post) and there was a fellow in khakis and tee-shirt standing on the other side. Thought to myself: "Wow, he could pass as a twin of Warren Pietsch, Texas Flying Legends pilot"(Wiscasset Airport, summers). Nah; couldn't be, so I didn't go over to speak.
Turned out, I learned up at the field at the land airport, it was Warren. He was getting his float plane rating; probably the only type plane for which he wasn't rated.
