Controller training influenced by romance?

First, the appearance of impropriety doesn't mean the existence of impropriety. Second, this wouldn't be the fist time someone in government tried to cut corners. Third, it is really nothing compared to the billions wasted by Grumman trying to build new frigates for the Coast Guard. They built one boat that wasn't even sea-worthy. Or the billions wasted by Boeing trying to build new GPS satellites. They built nothing.

First, the appearance of impropriety doesn't mean the existence of impropriety.

Usually it indicates exactly that.

In this case, rather than blaming it on romance, I would start to follow around the money.

The whole thing reminds me of the process how the garbage hauling contract for the local school district got shuffled around.

It's not the corruption that's the problem though. Just like they did with pilot training decades before, they said "Lets use the "Cheap Easy training method, It's work for pilots" so now we have poorly trained and disciplined controllers to go along with poorly trained and disciplined pilots. Yet I should respect the FAA's judgement on these matters? Not on your life.

I think Henning hit my concern. Not so much the money as the need for top-notch training for controllers. It's a stressful enough job without mistakes caused by not knowing what you don't know.

Testosterone poisoning never stops taking it's toll.
