Continental's view on oil.

The recommened one hr of flight each week is almost imposiable for some of us. only about 10% of the planes based at my airport are lucky to see a hr each month, the rest just sit.

Then they need to be using Exxon Elite or Camguard additive.
 
A lot of privately owned planes will go weeks or more sitting. They're simply saying ideal. The other factor that comes into play is length of trips. I don't end up flying the 310 every week, but I will typically fly it 5-15 hours when I do. That still works - the oil gets up to temperature.
