Bless their hearts, Congress is fixing a "lobbying-reform" law passed earlier this year that made it illegal for members of Congress to fly in private airplanes -- even their own!

http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/..._fix_lets.html

Great line from the article:
"[Congressman] Peterson said he was ready to propose a bill to make it illegal for any member of Congress to drive his or her car for any purpose to demonstrate the limitations of the rule. He stopped short of introducing it after he learned Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, agreed to fix the law last week."

As Will Rogers said, "with Congress, every time they make a joke, it's a law! And every time they make a law, it's a joke!"

"Other congressional pilots include Robin Hayes, R-N.C., who flies a Beechcraft like Peterson, Leonard Boswell, D-Iowa, who flies a single-engine four-seat Piper Comanche, and Sam Graves, R-Mo., who flies a red 1967 two-seat Cherokee." I have a 1967 Cherokee. It has 4 seats. What gives?

Giving the reporter the benefit of the doubt, it could be a '67 PA-28-140 without the optional rear seats.

The article also left out Sen James Inhofe, R-Okla, owner of a Grumman American Tiger. Former Senator John Glenn, who regularly flew his Baron while in office, would not have taken kindly to this, either.

Ah. Didn't know the 140 could be a 2 seater. Thanks.
