Just completed my cog screen and personality tests today. Doctor said everything was average/above average except for 1 area, which was the visual memory section. He said it was below average but does not believe it stemmed from the SSRI I have been taking. (He made it seem like it wouldn’t be a problem but to also just keep an open mind because you never know with the FAA)

Anyone have a similar experience? Just trying to get some closure on what to expect from the FAA and if they will see that as a big enough problem to keep me from getting my medical

100MG on Zoloft for the past couple years.

Duckman....do you know in what percentile you were for visual memory- that is scored as one of the "aviation important" areas of performance....

Dr Chien - what does the FAA use as the determining factor(s) for cognitive deficits for denial? Must 1 or more be below the 5th percentile for a fail? What if the LRPV shows very low probability of impairment, but you have some below average, but not impaired, Taylor scores?

Why would the FAA state “aeromedically significant cognitive deficits” as a denial factor when a neuropsychologist recommends SI based upon the same results?

Thanks in advance!

No sir Mr Chien, I do not. All I can say is, he said it was “a tad bit below average” but that was the only section that some concern was raised.

I believe that would mean just below the 15th percentile. Below 5th percentile is considered impaired.

What was LRPV?

My LRPV on a scale from 0 to 1, was a 0.4

From my understanding, closer to zero the better? Maybe that’ll be good enough…lol

That LRPV merely signifies that the overall likehoid of info. Mgmnt is low, but isn’t the last word. It comes back to “pattern”…..
