Colin Powell, Making Tracks
ColinPowell has said that he loves to drive his Corvette up the George Washington Parkway -- at legal speeds, of course. But now the former secretary of state gets to put pedal to the metal at the Indianapolis 500, where he'll drive the pace car for the May 29 race.
Powell has to keep under 100 mph during the official pacing, but he gets to practice at a faster speed. What's he driving, you ask? A Corvette, of course. (And a convertible at that.) Powell tells us through an aide: "In Washington, I drive my own Corvette within the speed limit, so I'm really looking to burn rubber at Indy. . . . I'm going to have a hard time getting off the track and letting them go by."
what a hoot!
