It seems the threads mentioning cole slaw have died off. Has the POA obsession passed?

I am waiting for BrYan ( with a Y) to mix up a batch and Fed Ex it to all of us cole sale fanatics..............:D

OK, now I am hungry for cole slaw. You know the kind you get at the super market that is really wet, and gooey.

The cabbage is an under appreciated fruit.

I had some yesterday, a forkful flipped off my plate and wound up on my lap. First time I've ever been attacked by a side dish.

Mac salad is a f’ed up mixture of textures. It’s like coleslaw and potato salad got mixed with pasta. Ewww

Just bought some coleslaw at Meijer this morning.

And I like the macaroni salad my wife makes.

I haven't read any of the replies yet, but I gave you a groan for bringing it up. Let stupid dogs lie.

That was worth a revival. I have a bag of shredded cabbage waiting at the house for some slaw dressing to be made. I think that’ll be tonight because of eman.

Perhaps this is sacrilege, but I have always despised cole slaw. Basically, cole slaw is a cabbage salad. I much prefer mine with some sort of vinaigrette rather than disrespect an honorable vegetable with mayonnaise.

The same with potato salad--vinaigrette all the way!

Barbecue and grilling season is just kicking off is most places which means that, like bears, slaw hibernation is ending.

I still can't make cole slaw without f******g it up ten years later.

Have you ever tried making the dressing with sour cream instead? It has all the yummy parts of a mayonnaise dressing and none of the gross parts.

Happy to contribute to the delinquency of others in this area...

dressing
8 oz mayo
2 t vinegar
1/4 t pepper
4 t sugar
3/8 t celery seed
1/4 t salt
4 t oil

1 c chopped cabbage
2 t chopped carrot
1 t minced onion

That's for the fast food type of cole slaw, and for a small portion, and way more dressing than required for that amount of cabbage. If you mix it up enough to be wet and put it in the fridge, you'll find it to be soupy and similar to the little packages of the stuff handed to you through a drive through window, except that it's fresh and less likely to give you a tummy ache.

I won't apologize for the mayo...elevated and sophisticated do not go with either comfort food or cabbage.

Or maybe yogurt.

And for more gas on the fire, I can't abide Ranch Dressing.

I'm with you there. I think ranch dressing was invented by someone that found a jar of mayo in the back of his car at the end of summer, and wondered if it was still OK. It wasn't, so they called it Ranch.

There is not one redeeming ingredient in cole slaw. There I said it.
