CMA to Johnwayne

My IA^s daughter is in rehab for looks like a year. I will be flying him to John Wayne on Friday nights and picking him up Sunday night back to Camarillo. Looks like my best way is the special VFR through LAX and picking up flight following from there, any bether ideas

Are you IR? If so, that is what I would do. If not, the VFR corridor will work.

Of note, be sure to read up/become familiar with the noise abatement rules for SNA. They WILL fine you if you bust one.

It's awkward regardless of how you break it down. If you don't have an aversion to flying over the ocean, you can stay outside of the Class B 2000 foot ring and under the Class B 5000 foot ring without adding much of a dogleg to your flight in to John Wayne. It would still probably be faster and easier than an IR route there, or a VFR corridor route.
