Class 3 restriction and basic med

if you have a restriction on your class 3 medical - have to wear prescription glasses..., does that continue with your basic med?

No. You have to follow the limitations that are on your drivers license. If your DL says you need corrective lenses then you must wear them when you fly.

No debate, but how about a regulatory reference?

14 CFR § 61.23(c)(3)(i)(A)
"The person must...[c]omply with all medical requirements or restrictions associated with his or her U.S. driver's license"

As for the restrictions on the medical certificate...provided you are no longer using your medical to establish medical eligibility, there is no regulatory requirement to adhere to the restrictions of the certificate. That said, if you have a medical condition that prevents you from safety operating an aircraft, you're obligated to ground yourself in accordance with § 61.53(b).
