Civil Air Patrol

Hmmm..

A 21 year old Cadet ??:dunno:

Courtney Oliver, 21, left, of Winthrop, sits in a plane cockpit Saturday at the Augusta State Airport as Civil Air Patrol Capt. Steve Vorpagel describes pluses of becoming a cadet.

The phrase "drug enforcement" is incorrect. No one in CAP is allowed any "enforcement" authority. In fact there are very specific regulations prohibiting CAP members from any and all types of apprehension, enforcement, etc.

If you're under 18 when joining, you join as a cadet.
If you're over 18 when joining, you join as an adult member.

If you joined before 18, you can remain a cadet until 21.

Which was my point... Why would a Capt of the CAP tell a 21 year old the benefits of a Cadet.. She is already over the age limit..

OK, I didn;t catch that. I think that's a reporter screw up. He certainly was not trying to recruit her as a cadet.
The caption was probably written back at the office, and probably by someone who wasn't there when the story was covered.
