Anyone following Cirrus probably knew about the 12,000 hour airframe life limit on the SR20 and the 4,000 hour limit on the SR22. Cirrus always said that number was artifically low and they were conducting ongoing testing to extend it. They said they wanted to get the 22 to market quickly and that's why they accepted the low life limit. Buyers were betting the company was right.

As it turns out, the company was right. The 22's life limit was revised upward to 12,000 hours. Retroactive to serial #1. It actually happened last August, but it seems like a well-kept secret. Or was I just in a post-hurricane stupor?

We have a flying club here in the Charlotte area that is selling Cirrus Shares in an SR22. It sure looks sharp...would love to get a ride in one of those!

The flight school that uses my Citabria now has 4 glass panel SR22s, three of which have the deice package. Nice airplanes. They handle surprisingly well, but there is a very narrow attitude "window" for landing. Too shallow and you prang the nose gear, too steep and you strike the tail.
