Cirrus ditches Toronto 5/2/25 nonfatal

Looks like CAPS got pulled. Too bad they don't put some inflatable floats on there... Cirri seem to sink very quickly for some reason.

That can be pretty crowded water over there. Glad everyone survived.

With all that foam, I'm surprised it sank so fast.

Looks like a low pull. Must have been moving fast when it hit. Maybe some damage occurred when it hit?

I've even seen a Cirrus sink in under a minute with a normal "high" pull. I don't know why they sink so fast, but they do.

A Velocity got into a deep stall and dropped straight down into the Atlantic just off Sebastian, FL. The pilot rode it down. The aircraft bobbed around out there for quite a while before being towed to the beach.

I figured the Cirrus had foam wings and the fuselage had a foam core similar to the Velocity.

Those foam cores are thin, with heavy fiberglass on each side. These airplanes aren't built like the old foam/glass homebuilts, with big chunks of foam everywhere.
