Cialis / Tadalafil (daily use) I just noticed that it is acceptable - 2.5 or 5 mg daily is allowed if no side effects after 7 days

I have been using Sildenafil 25mg as needed for years with good results and have been reporting it to the FAA.

If I wanted to switch/try Tadalafil (for convenience) is there anything I need to do other than reporting it on my next medical?

Also, should I try 2.5mg first or go with the 5mg daily?

Tip: Get the 5mg prescription. It will probably cost exactly the same for a 30-day supply as the 2.5mg prescription.

Then: Get a pill splitter for $5-10 at the drug store, and split a few pills.

Try the half-pill 2.5mg dose and see if it works for you. If it does, then you just got a 60-day supply for the price of 30 (plus the cost of the pill splitter). If it doesn't, then just take the 5mg dose.

2.5mg works well for me.

I got the 5mg tablets and split them to 2.5, so far seems like it's doing the job. I'm certainly more confident being ready to go at anytime.

The pill cutter I have is cheap and it's hard to get a even cut, is there a better pill cutter you can recommend that handles the shape better?

No, I have the same issue. I suspect they shaped the pills intentionally to make it somewhat difficult to split them. But if 2.5mg works, then probably 2mg also helps enough. I just don't worry about it.

I've placed console tape on mine cut to hold my sildenafil in place, since half a pill seems to do the trick (after prostate surgery.)

With Tadalfil (Cialis/Adcirca) I usually give my patients 20 mg tablets and then have them split in 1/2. Can take every other day for most people. Better bang for the buck, Lasts 36 hours. But check with your doctor. And don't fly until testing a few doses to make sure you are not suffering any side effects.

I used to try to help my patients out by doing some every other day prescribing.

As of late I would just send my script to Mark Cuban's CostPlus. I think it's around $8 for 90 days of 5mg tadalafil plus $5 shipping, so $13 every 3 months. Patient doesn't have to pill split or remember the every other day thing. Easy enough for me, since all scripts in CA are electronic. It would be slightly cheaper, to the tune of one gallon of Avgas every 3 months, to pill split the 10mg version...

Not trying to shill for CostPlus. I'm sure there are other places to get cheaply, but some of the other options are more clunky, like goodRX. (patient gets a coupon, let's me know, changes his mind, asks to use a different pharmacy, etc etc...)
