I am curious what the temperature differences are between the gasket type cht and the probe inserted into the thermo well. My #4 cylinder is my hottest and It is the only one on my monitor going to the spark plug gasket type probe. The original gauge is using the well of #4. Thank you for any suggestions.

My #6 runs 50 degrees cooler than the rest on my JPI EDM 830. The stock probe occupies the well and the 830 is of the ring type on the top plug.

Certainly a different reading doesn't mean a different temperature, unless all of the probes are calibrated, are the same type, and in the same relative location.

Do the spark plug gasket ones tend to read higher or lower?

Only one data point, but I did an avionics upgrade which replaced all the probes, and changed one gasket probe over to the bayonet style. That cylinder went from reading the coldest to reading the hottest, about 50º warmer than it was previously. As far as I know, gasket probes generally read cooler than bayonet probes.
