cholesterol medication...

Does taking cholesterol medication require a special issuance?
All prescription medication should be declared on your medical form.

Fortunately my family Dr. is my AME, he knows what I'm taking.

I have read it here that the underlying reason for the medication is often what's important. High lipids/cholesterol..no problem. Angina with ischemia and stent may be a whole different story!

Check with AOPA Jeanie. You will probably need a letter from your doctor or something.

Most statin type drugs for cholesterol control are on the FAA approved list. Check the AOPA web site.

If prescribed for cholesterol control, declare on the form, no adverse reactions and press on. If other underlying problems. Talk to Doc Bruce on this forum.
