I don't know about that. It is an election year, at least in the US.

My Artificial Intelligence professor in college held the record for the most accurate voice recognition algorithm/software out there. At that time it was around 99.1% accurate. Still annoying. Smart woman though, taught me how to write OCR software…. not a small feat.

Heh - a couple years ago I stopped in a McDonalds for some reason. I noticed a group of about 7-8 girls right in front me, late teens or early twenties. Based on their clothes, boots, and mud I figured they had just finished a long morning of riding. I thought to myself, "Well, they don't SMELL like horse." Then, about two seconds later, I thought, "Oh, no. Did I SAY that or THINK it?"

A lot of people don't realize that closed captioning is typically done via a court reporter's style keyboard.

That type of "typing" to keep up with rapid human speech (most humans speak at around 300 words per minute and most really great typists can only do about 100 words per minute of dictation style typing, maximum) is done in a shorthand that's phonetic-based.

Words are "chorded" in similar to playing multi key chords on a piano, and there are different standards for the chord combinations. A court reporter goes back over their stuff and tweaks their software to get most of it right, after the software is configured for their "playing style".

So "whores" is very close to "horse" phonetically and the keyboard probably wasn't switched to a different stenographer's standards and they chorded that sound and got the wrong word.
