The biggest potential threat to the dominance of Western aircraft makers has been unveiled at the Singapore Air Show.
China's answer to Boeing and Airbus is showing a slender, blue-and-white model of the Comac C919 aircraft for the first time outside the mainland. Its introduction was low-key, a move consistent with how Chinese firms prefer to operate overseas.

Mh, another competitor yes, a threat ?

I don't see people running in fear because Embraer has made quite some inroads in the regional jet market.

Many components of those chinese jets will be purchased from the US (engines, avionics), at the same time, many components of 'US made' aircraft are already manufactured abroad. Its a 60/40 vs 40/60 thing for the US aviation industry, the best thing that can happen for the US is further rapid growth in the domestic chinese market (aviation and otherwise).

I wonder how many of those parts will be directly interchangeable with Boeing an Airbus products?

Then again, Chinese QC is not known for it's, shall we say, thoroughness.

Maintenance either for that matter.
