Local paper reported it falling from the sky with a wing missing, but who knows, RIP

Two videos, one has something descending on fire and the other has the Cheyenne missing about two thirds of the right wing descending in a flat spin... :-(

Might as well include the source. Maybe different videos but it’s hard to see what is missing in the flat spin video in the one I linked. What’s it take to get a GA plane into a flat spin? Holy sheeeeetz that is terrifying to see.

A large section of the right wing is missing, and a photo of debris in your linked story appears to be that section. That separated wing structure is in an open field, while the rest of the aircraft went down in a wooded area.

The inflight breakup and subsequent flat spin descent of the aircraft appeared to be survivable, and my heart is heavy knowing those in the plane rode it down in abject terror.

    May they rest easy.

It’s odd because according to their flight track, they didn’t fly into anything severe at all. Looked just like light rain...

I was on Lake Oconee yesterday and we saw the fire ball falling from the sky. At the time, we had no idea what it was.

Im wondering if fuel vapors collected in the wing and ignited blowing the leading edge off.

But the pilot holds in his hands the disassembly tool.

You have to compare the time stamp of the weather image to the time of the flight. Often they don't line up. What you are seeing for weather was approximately 45 minutes prior to the crash. Weather could have moved.

Does an airplane flat spin if missing a wing or spiral violently?

If it’s an F-15 you just land a little hot. Short answer is it depends.

So sad when reading these stories of people going to a funeral creating more funerals in GA.

Odd data in the flight aware track at the end. Nice and smooth at 250 then all hell breaks loose. Clear Air Turbulence? That’s a long flight. I’m curious what the G loading was with the total pax baggage and fuel on board.

    RIP.

Those two things rarely match up.

If you looked at my iPad on my last flight, I flew right through the purple on the NEXRAD... Was in clear air the whole time and monitoring with onboard radar as well.

    Weather moves.

This is so frightening to think about and is so tragic for this family. I sometimes wonder why I fly when I read these.

That's what we had on the lake. Light sprinkles.
