Wow, they have F22s actively patrolling now? Cool. You'll never see it coming, that's for sure.
 
Do they have a restriction on how close they can fly too? Cool picture but I'd hate to get too close of a view!

Friend of mine has flown AC-130 patrols over the cape in the past for launches.

Holy crap...I thought the F-22 was a display of force, but an AC-130...don't try to walk across the barrier either!

I think it wouldn't be too hard to maintain visual separation, but I bet the wake turbulence is something to deal with! :hairraise:

I'm sure it's SOP for the fighters to stay some radius away, too.

I wonder about that.

I have seen a lot of shuttle launches and the smoke from the engine exhausts sticks around for a long time. It is usually only disrupted by wind shifts at different altitudes and does not seem to show any wake turbulence effects.
