cheap....worth trying?"

If you are looking for cheap headsets, you may want to take a look at Av-Comm's. I believe they are available for around $100 or so. I know of a couple flight schools that use them with pretty good results for ruggedness, they are comfortable enough, and quiet enough.

At the price you posted, I'd take a look at Lightspeed's QFR headsets, or Telex's Echelon 100 headsets as well. Both are available for around $150, and are known quantities.

I'm looking more for a cheap ANR. It appears that the AvShop ones are ANR, if I'm not mistaken. Those would all make awesome passenger headsets too tho. Thanks for the link Joe.

I need a cheap headset for a passenger.

If you want an inexpensive passive second headset:

While they're not as nice as my DC10-30's and a cheaper design, they're reasonably comparable otherwise. The DC's will outlive it eventually but db reduction and fit are about the same. You definitely have to take the cloth ear covers off for use or it just feels weird and is a bit louder. I've had a set for 5 years now and they still work like new even after a few drops and the pax aren't trying to race me for who gets the DC's.
