I have had LED in my under wing lights.Put LED bulbs in, and get real light for very little amps.
The switch at the pilots side rear door post is convenient for loading the baggage area at night, as well as front passenger lighting.
We had them on two of our 172's, and found them outstanding features. Especially with the brighter LED's.
I have a 77q with bladder and factory underwing lightsIn the later 182's (sans bladders) the courtesy light fixtures are mounted in a wing inspection panel. No modification to the structure required.
Which LEDs did you use? Since the bulbs sit horizontal in the holder, I'm assuming you'd need some that turn to a 90 degree downward firing??I have had LED in my under wing lights.
Many nights I will pull 2 breakers so my G5 and turn and bank indicator is turned off and leave the plane out on the ramp with lights on for an hour or 2 When if I am working in the hangar. Small airport.
LED lights are about twice as bright as the old ones and use very little amps.

No, you cannot. You could do it as a minor alteration with factory parts if you can get someone to actually install it and sign it off.You could almost owner-produce these parts
Check your parts manual but most 14v Cessna's had MS15584-2 bulbs which were GE94 which have a BA15D Base. The shield (reference part #3 in the diagram posted above) has reflective tape, or at least mine does so no need for a directional bulb.Which LEDs did you use? Since the bulbs sit horizontal in the holder, I'm assuming you'd need some that turn to a 90 degree downward firing??
