Cessna TTX Lost at Sea

Just saw this on a news feed news report and the flight aware track flight track. Sad, looks like incapacitation of some sort.

Very sad. The pilot was apparently a friend of Peter Schultz (CEO of Scripps and the owner of the plane), no name released as of yet.

Looks like this was supposed to be a very short to like 15nm. Strange to turn on and fly with auto pilot for that short of a distance

Not necessarily. I’ve flown with someone who does exactly that. Day VFR, short flight in easy conditions, engage the autopilot at 1,000 feet.

The pilot was renowned biologist Tsotne Javahishvili. He was 67 years old. Medical emergency would seem pretty high on the list of possibilities. RIP.
