Getting ready to do an oil change on my new to me 310J. It has tempest filters AA48108-2 installed on both engines. Went to the tempest website and they show the correct filter to be AA48110-2 on all Cessna models C-Q with IO470 engine. The AA48108-2 is listed for use with the IO520 engines!?!?

Any and all help is appreciated.

The Lycoming IO540s on my Aztec use the AA48110-2 filter and it has a male threaded connection on the filter. I think the AA48108-2 has a female thread on the filter.

Doesn't look like you are getting much help on this question.

When I was at the hangar yesterday had a look on the supply shelf. I have Tempest AA48110-2 and Champion CH48110-1 filters (interchangeable) for the Aztec, with male threads. Also happen to have a couple of Champion CH48108s left over when I owned another airplane and they are female thread as I thought, so I don't think the two types are interchangable on your 310.

I just ordered the filters that are currently on the aircraft, the AA48108-2.

The difference is whether there's a pressure bypass valve built into the adapter or not. The 108 filter has the bypass built into the filter while the 110 doesn't. The attachment being an innie or outie will force you to use the right one. My 520 used to use the 110 until my mechanic had the adapter bypass machined out so now I use 108s. Don't get too stuck on engine application charts.
