Not only do they always look like they're smiling, when they gorge on kill they sound like they're laughing.

I dunno how they knew but I think the guys at Warner Brothers got some inspiration from the behavior of the real deal.

Probably some kind of retrovirus causing the tumors for that mode of transmission. If they could isolate it (the virus) they would have a better chance of formulating a vaccine. Don't know if the necessary funding and facilities are available in Tasmania. They certainly are in Australia.
