Catalina island rental with cfi?

Hi - I’m visiting Los Angeles In august and me and my son would like to rent a plane to fly to Catalina Island with the help of a CFI. I’m multi commercial instrument rated with 600 hours but assume need cfi for rental and more importantly want a copilot that knows that airspace and the challenging airport landing.

Anyone know a flight school in the area that I should inquire further with?

Did the exact same thing (without your son), rented out of van nuys.

If Los Angeles means more like San Diego, check out First Flight.

I imagine most or all flight schools do this. There are probably 30? 40? of them in "Los Angeles". Find your nearest airport and call the schools there.

South of LAX will be slightly easier airspace-wise, but a quick hop through the SFRA right over LAX has a certain appeal -- if so, start with KSMO while you still can.. After that, perhaps KHHR, KTOA, KEMT?
