Having worked as a third mate in the merchant marine and the fact that most of the wankers are union engineers, I'd say they the truth is somewhere in between but a bit closer to Captain Phillips side. Those guys are just trying to shake money out of the company.

There was a reason I left the merchant marine for a full time Navy gig.
