if any PoA'ers looking for a cool place to fly in Colorado, check our Canon City. I have been flying around the rookies with some local CFIs helping them building time and for mountain experience in my c172 heavy. we've come across some cool little airports and want to pass the good word
this week was freemont airport in canyon city, 1V6. it's just west of KPUB and near La Veta pass that's a common lower alt pass used a lot by small aircraft.... and some rather large birds it appears .....
small welcoming fbo has the nicest crew car I've seen, a new bronco as opposed to the typical 1980s crown vic from PD with check engine light on. lots of restaurants , we had Thai that was better than good. worth checking it out. they have a fly in and swap meet next month that I may return for, if I can trade a trip from work
keep it in mind when traveling thru....these small city owned fields like when we drop in and spend money in town.
