When a Canadian Aircraft's paper work is not in order can it be flown here on a Canadian Ferry Permit?
Let's say, that the aircraft's annual has expired, and it is bought buy a US citizen, can it be flown here on a Canadian ferry permit.

All applicable ADs must be addressed before Transport Canada will issue a ferry permit. As far as into the US, the FAA will have to answer that. Should be permissible; it must come up sometimes.

To be more specific how would you go about importing this aircraft?

Could you do all paperwork to get US reg and N number then take wings off and trailer into US?

Tell customs it broke in Canada and yes ur bringing it back to fix. Since you already own it your not with importing it.

That doesn't work, we spent 4.5 hours at the US customs getting a clearance to enter the US with the V-EZ, no we do not owe duty on American made items.

OBTW the custom agents can see the FAA data base. when they see a lie. things get nasty.

I told my customer to hire a Canadian AME to do an annual. see their list of discrepancies. before buying. When the AME signed off, have the owner fly it down.
Then we can de-register it in Canada, after that is done, we an apply for an N number for it, do the FAA's required annual, and get the FAA to issue a AWC. and registration.
That's about the only legal way I can think of. my contact in Vancouver says the Canadians will not issue a ferry permit to cross the border.
